pacquiao morales 3

Following the Countdown to Pacquiao - Morales III : The Grand Finale HBO, this Manny Pacquiao's rubber match with Morales was a spectacular action fight for three rounds. And the atmosphere, with 18,276 deliriously wild fans, was absolutely electrifying and unforgettable. Stick some casual sports fans in the middle of that kind of scene and they will become boxing fans for life.

Pacquiao, 27, was the younger, stronger, fresher and hungrier fighter. He was simply too much for Morales, an old 30 after so many brutal wars and so many years of struggling to make weight. Pacquiao walked through whatever Morales could land and destroyed him, scoring three knockdowns to win their glorious trilogy 2-1.

The final knockdown in the third round resulted in a sight we never thought we would see: Morales conceding a fight. He sat with his arms wrapped around his knees, looked to his corner and shook his head "no" to indicate that he wasn't going to get up as he allowed referee Vic Drakulich to count him out. He knew he was a beaten man and said so afterward. The scene reminded us of the way Alexis Arguello conceded his 1983 rematch with Aaron Pryor -- sitting in the middle of the canvas knowing he just couldn't beat that guy, so why get up just to get pummeled again?

Morales is probably at the end of the road, but what a road it has been. He won titles in three divisions and he's a lock for first-ballot Hall of Famer. He was also one of the never-say-die fighters of this era, one of the reasons he was so popular and generated big money on pay-per-view. He might have lost his epic trilogies with Pacquiao and fierce rival Marco Antonio Barrera, but he's one of the few fighters with the heart to fight them a combined six times.

Pacquiao sealed our vote for fighter of the year honors with the impressive victory. But when he'll fight next is a mystery because of the outside-the-ring storm in which he is at the center. Top Rank and Golden Boy both claim promotional rights to him, and the matter seems headed for a courtroom. If Top Rank prevails, Pacquiao is headed for the Chinese territory of Macau to fight in March, possibly against 130-pound titlist Edwin Valero. If Golden Boy wins, the fighter could face division champion Barrera in March in a rematch of Pacquiao's crushing 11th-round knockout in a 2003 featherweight championship fight.

pacquiao larios

Pacquiao returned to Quezon City in suburban Manila to face former junior featherweight champ Oscar Larios on July 2 at the packed Araneta Coliseum, the famed arena where Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier waged their epic third battle.

Although Pacquaio was hurt by Larios early in the fight, he shook it off, dropping Larios twice and dominating him en route a crowd-pleasing unanimous decision, one that set the stage for the rubber match with Morales.

The fierce rivals met for the third time Nov. 18 in front of an electric crowd of 18,276 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The fans had come for another brawl, and the fighters didn't disappoint.

Although it was short, it was sweet for Pacquiao, who crushed Morales and delivered a third-round knockout for his fans. Pacquiao dropped him three times, the final knockdown leaving a dazed Morales sitting on the canvas shaking his head "no," a beaten man who allowed himself to be counted out.

Before the fight, Pacquiao, who fights with a smile on his face and a sense of joy all while trying to tear his opponent's head off, had vowed to put on another great show. The Manny Paquiao vs Oscar Larios Full Streaming Video is also available.

pacquiao morales 1

Pacquaio Morales I was set on March 19, 2005 at MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The HBO Pay per view commentators are Emmanuel Steward, Larry Merchant, & Jim Lampley. Pacquaio Morales I was fought for the vacant WBC International super featherweight title and the vacant IBA Super Featherweight Title.

After defeating Fahsan 3K Battery, Pacquaio went on to face Erik Morales.

Morales, proving he's far from finished, earned a thrilling unanimous decision over Pacquiao. Morales dictated the pace of the fight by using an effective jab to neutralize Pacquiao's speed and power but there were still plenty of toe-to-toe exchanges.

In the 5th round, Pacquaio suffered a nasty gash over his right eye from an accidental clash of heads (though referee Joe Cortez incorrectly ruled the cut was caused by a punch) and gamely fought the rest of the way with blood streaming down his face. Pacquiao briefly wobbled Morales in the 12th round, but in the end, all three judges scored the fight 115-113.

Pacquaio after the fight fought Hector Velasquez.

Final Tally: Paul Smith 113-115 | Dave Moretti 113-115 | Chuck Giampa 113-115

After his first 126 pounds bout (see: Pacquio vs Yeshmagambetov ) in his hometown, Pacquaio once again defended his 122 pounds IBF super bantamweight title at the Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, United States on March 15, 2003.

The HBO Pay per view commentators are Emmanuel Steward, Larry Merchant, & Jim Lampley.

His opponent is the fresh from amateur boxing Emmanuel Lucero. The fight was very unusual. Lucero has an exaggerated crouch, almost at the level of the belt, a style which will prove to be his downfall.

Manny seeing this, pounded Lucero in the body. Lucero unable to see his opponent because of low crouching, took a beating, culminating in a knock out in the 3rd round. Pacquiao timed Lucero's movement, concentrated his power punch using his left fist on Lucero's jaw, staggering him, with just one punch. Referee Jose Cobian, seeing how wobbly and dazed Lucero, stopped the fight.

This is Manny Pacquiao's last fight at 122 pounds.
