Manny Pacquiao Nike Training - The Pacman Speaks

I was just 16 years old when I won my first professional fight. I was just 20 when I won my first world title. Needless to say, I came a long way from selling breads from the streets of Bukidnon Philippines.

I guess it's hunger that drove me. After I moved on from selling bread, I worked in construction during day while training at night. Four years later, the championship was mine. I thought I had made it. It took losing to realize that there was much more to be done.

I decide to strength train some more and gained about 15 pounds of muscle. However, it was important that I didn't lose any of my speed while doing it. So the sting of my punches stayed, while I add a little more power to the thumping. It worked. Asked my opponents.

Soon, I became a huge star in the Philippines, and it became impossible for me to train there. I decided to dedicate myself to my new trainer, Freddie Roach, and his gym in Los Angeles, away from distractions and able to concetrate soley on my gymwork.

In 2006, everybody named me the Fighter of the Year. I've won championship at different weight classes, and I've defeated every top stars that challenged me. Although heavyweights and middleweights are too big for me, I still want to be recognized as the best fighter in the world.

And it's all because I've learned that every win deserves a sacrifice.

Manny Pacquiao Trains at Manila before Los Angeles Flight Manny Pacquiao trains with Buboy Fernandez at Gerry Peñalosa Gym, Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila.

Manny Pacquiao trained at the Mandaluyong Gym on the day that he leaves for his Los Angeles training. He is expected to fight David Diaz on June 28. The David Diaz vs Manny Pacquiao will be held at Mandalay Bay Las Vegas.

Update: Excerpt of Pre-Flight Interview

from Manila Bulletin:

"I will try to improve on my speed when I get to the Wild Card in Los Angeles," Pacquiao said when he worked out at a newly-opened gym owned by Gerry Peñalosa in Mandaluyong prior to his 10 p.m. flight to the US via Philippine Airlines.

Pacquiao said David Diaz "is someone not to be taken for granted because he has power and is determined to keep his title. Speed will play a big role for me in this fight"

...The 29-year-old current WBC super-feather king toyed with training assistant and long-time pal Buboy Fernandez during the punchmitt routine. Drenched in sweat and his arms weary from the heavy pounding from Pacquiao’s solid blows, Fernandez stepped out of the ring to tell Pacquiao that he’s had enough.

"Aren’t you a trainer of a world champion?" Pacquiao shouted at Fernandez as the crowd went wild at the boxer’s antics. "You act as though you are a trainer of a four-round fighter."

"I am not worried about not making the weight limit of 135 lbs or not being able to feel good at this weight class because I feel this would be just perfect for me, but, I don’t want to underestimate Diaz, I am just excited to get back on the ring once again," Pacquiao said.
